Bam's Story

Riverside, CA

-Must be the only cat in the home
-Cat-friendly, respectful dog *may* be OK
-We have no history of interaction with children. Respectful children 12 and older may be OK.

Meet Bam! Bam is one of the most handsome Bengals we’ve ever seen. Look at his gorgeous face!!!

At the young age of 5, Bam has reached the stage where he’s left his crazy kitten antics behind, turning him into a remarkably easy-going adult.

Don’t let that fool you though - he still has plenty of “spice” - especially where veterinarians are concerned (he had to be sedated at his Vet visit).

Bam landed at the Irvine Animal Control facility - THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS! The poor guy was SO STRESSED OUT and heartbroken that the shelter staff could barely touch him. They medicated him with Gabapentin to help with his anxiety and fear while he was a shelter resident.

From what we understand, Bam was surrendered by his family who had a multi-cat household, and he wasn’t happy with those arrangements.

Bam is currently living in a loving foster home who is deeply experienced with the Bengal breed. His foster has another Bengals in the home and reports that he’s a bit of a bully with other cat. For this reason we know he would thrive being the only feline in the home.

Bam arrived at our Foster home on January 3, 2026. Since then, our foster has given him a tremendous amount of space and time to adjust to his “new normal.” They TRULY love him but know that he’s not wanting to share his world with another feline.

Here’s what Bam’s Foster wants you to know about him.

Bam is very loving! He rubs on people and head-butts the wall (LOL). He snuggles at night and sleeps on the foot of my bed. He will sit in your lap when he wants to.
He’s playful, absolutely loves treats, and he’s always up for a good scratch session behind his ears. He’s remarkably low-key and truly a “laid-back dude.”

If you love a talkative Bengal, Bam’s your man! He always has something to say - and plenty of it. He’s extremely conversational and engaged with his people. His foster says “If we ignore him - he gets louder :-) “

Bam is happy to cuddle up next to his humans and snooze. He’s such a love!

Bam is a perfect gentleman when it comes to litter box manners. He enjoys wet food and doesn’t seem interested in dry food (which is great!).

Although Bam is slow to warm up to strangers, he’s definitely adjusted beautifully to his Foster family’s slow and gentle pace. He feels all of the love that is his to take, and we’re so happy we could take time and not have to rush his journey.

His foster says that he is fascinated by their dogs, but hasn’t had direct physical interaction. This is why we think a cat-friendly dog who will respect his boundaries, could be an option.

We don’t know if Bam was ever around children, and he isn’t now, so we think a home with cat-savvy children who are 12+ years’ old is a possibility.

Bam DEFINITELY dislikes being picked up (his foster says “I can, but I am the only one”), and he is terrified of the Vet. Our Foster can see that he truly hates sharing his space (kingdom) with their other Bengal.

Overall Bam is an extremely healthy boy. He is neutered, vaccinated, and tested negative for FeLV / FIV. As mentioned, he has perfect litter box skills.

We know that in the right home with the right person, Bam will truly blossom. Look how great he’s doing already, in such a short time?

If you would like to adopt Bam, please fill out our adoption application: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRUT/Cat

Bengal Rescue's Adoption Policy
We have an extensive application process. We do background checks. We ask adopters to review all of our articles on our website about the care of the cat they are interested in adopting. If they are a viable candidate, we next schedule a Video Conference to meet them and their other pets and family members. We consult with them on that call about litter box placement, location for cat towers and feeding. If everything looks good and we wish to proceed with the adoption, they fill out an Adoption agreement where they agree that the cat will be properly cared for, indoor only, and will never be sold or given away to another party or rescue. They agree that if things don't work out, they will return the cat to our Rescue.
