Babe's Story
It takes a special kind of person to give a scared cat a chance. Are you that person? Babe gets overlooked by potential adopters because she is shy around strangers. This sweet, quiet cat (with beautiful calico coloring) would be a great addition to someone's cat family. She may not let you pet her right away but with time, patience and love she will start coming to you for affection. Every night she runs up to our staff and rubs up on our legs. She then gets lots of petting
which she loves! If the petting stops too soon she will be right back rubbing on our legs for more. In the middle of all of that petting we pick her up a few times, just for a few seconds at a time, getting her used to being handled. We've seen it many times before where a previously timid cat, over time, relaxes and becomes friendly, social and sometimes even a mushball lap cat.

Babe came to us in 2023. She had been part of a stray colony before being trapped. She was then brought to Animal Care Center in Brooklyn and then she was brought to us. She has adjusted well to being an indoor cat. And of course, she enjoys all the attention she gets from staff. It would be great for her to have her own home with her own family who could give her daily petting sessions and continue to work on getting her comfortable with being picked up.
Will you be the one to change this cats life for the better?
