Autumn's Story

Three mother cats, 3+ years of age, and 10 kittens, 4-6 months old, came into AVA’s care when the well-meaning rescuer felt the population explosion was getting out of hand in a household already bursting with dogs, older cats and children. Two of the mother cats were rescued from a house fire and the other was a stray. All have been well-socialized and used to cats, dogs and kids.

Momma Autumn is a sleek black beauty who birthed 6 lovely black beans just like herself. She has passed on her social, affectionate genes to all of her kittens, and would really like to retire her role as the milk bar for her kittens, who still hound her to suckle, more for comfort than nutrition. Autumn is SO over it!

This pretty and affectionate cat is the most vocal, fitting for her maternal duty to snag the people’s attention, and likely because she had to compete for everything in a household of many cats, kittens, dogs and kids. She is also really interested in whatever the humans are eating, and may help herself if not supervised. This behaviour is becoming less noticeable as Autumn is fed more nutritious food and more often, so her hunger pangs will hopefully be a thing of the past. Once she is reassured that food will always be available and plenty, and her body adjusts to a cessation of milk production, Autumn’s appetite will normalize.

Autumn is very affectionate and loves being petted. Her rumbly purrs and head boops are sure indications of her happiness at being touched. Autumn is great with cats, dogs and children, and would love to move on to bond with a family ready to add a mini house panther to their menagerie, and make friends with a chill, friendly cat there too.

Would you like to make Autumn a part of your tribe? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $250 for each adult cat 1 year or older. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
