Athena's Story

Athena was abandoned out by Antioch California with her four kittens. She was attacked by a coyote and two of her kittens were taken by the coyotes. It took a week for a kind person to rescue Athena and her two kittens that survived. Athena was taken to our local shelter and her left eye was removed and she was spayed and up-to-date with all of her shots. She recovered at the shelter for a month and then the rescuer took her backand we took her into our sanctuary. She is friendly, but can be reactive and feisty. Loves attention and has a lot of energy.

Kim's Nurturing Nest Animal Sanctuary's Adoption Policy

We have adoption events at Pet food express monthly. People can meet the animals and if interested they can fill out an adoption form, pay an adoption fee and gather all supplies suitable to care for the animal. Also, if an inquiry comes in via email and those are evaluated. If suitable, they are invited to come meet the animal. If there seems like a good match an adoption form is filled out and adoption fee paid. Education is given on appropiate housing, food and mental stimulation required for that particular animal.
