Astro's Story

Astro has come a long way—and we mean that in every sense. Over a year ago, he was rescued from a severe hoarding situation where over 40 cats were crammed into a single small residence. The environment was overcrowded, unsanitary, and deeply neglectful. The cats, including Astro, had little to no personal space, were living in cages stacked on top of each other, and lacked basic necessities like clean food, water, and proper care. Many, including Astro, were isolated in cages for long periods of time, deprived of meaningful human interaction and the chance to move freely.

When he first arrived, Astro was understandably overwhelmed and unsure of the world around him. But over time—and with lots of patience, love, and gentle socialization—he’s revealed just how much heart and personality he has to give.

Today, Astro is a completely different cat. He’s playful, curious, and bursting with charm. He zooms around with his cat friends, pounces on toys with kitten-like energy, and has a goofy side that keeps us laughing. One of his favorite moves? Flopping dramatically on the floor for belly rubs or stretching out in ridiculous poses to make sure all eyes are on him.

He’s also incredibly affectionate. Astro has learned to trust humans again, and now he seeks out attention, happily accepting pets and scratches. He thrives in the company of other cats and would love a home with a playful feline companion. That said, he’s also perfectly happy being the center of attention in a loving home where he’ll get plenty of interaction and enrichment.

Astro’s transformation has been nothing short of inspiring. After surviving such a difficult start, he’s blossomed into a healthy, confident, and loving companion—and now, all he needs is a forever home to call his own.

If you’re looking for a cat who’s resilient, funny, affectionate, and full of life, Astro is more than ready to meet you. Give him the fresh start he truly deserves.

Quirks:

• He thinks the broom is a toy and likes to chase and hit the broom bristles when you’re sweeping

• He loves to run around with toys in his mouth

Submit an application: https://www.furballsofatlanta.org/astro

Furballs Cat Rescue's Adoption Policy
Kitten Adoptions: We follow expert advice and require kittens to be adopted in a bonded pair if there are no other kittens/cats at home. This guideline gives your kitten a happier growing up experience, improves their emotional development and helps to prevent “single kitten syndrome” where stress and/or aggression can arise from loneliness and boredom. Single kitten adoptions are typically not recommended for first-time cat owners due to the unique challenges that kittens present. They require a significant amount of attention, socialization, and training. However, we understand that some prospective adopters may feel prepared for the responsibility. Therefore, we evaluate each application on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the adopter's experience, lifestyle, and readiness to meet the needs of a young kitty. Our goal is to ensure that both the kitten and the new owner are set up for a successful and fulfilling relationship. Kittens/cats that can be adopted single will be listed in the description of their profile. FBOA Adoption Process: 1. Submit an application 2. Home Check/Consult 3. If approved, you will receive an approval email with instructions to schedule your meet + greet. 4. Meet + Greet/Adoption Day!
