Asparagus and Shrimp's Story
Many of you followed little Aspara"GUS" journey this summer ☀️

The Veggie litter came to us from our friends at Redemption Road Rescue when they were having some strange symptoms and needed some specialized round the clock care. Gus was definitely the worst off. He came to us and was being weighed in grams because he was so small. Everyday he would be weighed on a food scale like a newborn kitten even though he was born May 1st. The whole litter was small for their age but nothing like Gus.

We ended up taking him to the Internal Medicine department at Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota back in July and get a plan together. Due to his small size, we could not draw enough blood at one time to get all the answers. Most of the time we run every test possible at once but little Gus could only lose 1ml of blood every 2 weeks for his safety. This means we had to pick and choose which blood tests to run and in what order. Over the next couple months he had tests on thyroid function, liver function, growth hormone production, generalized fecal testing. In the end it was determined that Gus actually has Dwarfism.

He was recently neutered... we needed to give his body as much time as possible to absorb as much testosterone to help him grow. He came in today at 7 months of age and weighed in at 2.7# which is the size of most 3 month old kittens. He may never reach 4 pounds in his like but his personality makes up for it. He is bonded to another kitten named Shrimp (from our Forrest Gump litter) and will need to be adopted with her.

Shrimp is the sweetest little grey kitten that came to us with her own litter. She had a couple littermates with missing back feet. She did not have any deformities but she was the one that got picked on so we paired her with Gus who was also getting picked on. They have been inseparable ever since! She is double his size but so gentle with him!

Adoption fee is $400 for the pair.
