Aslan (Maine Coon) 's Story
Aslan is estimated to be 5+ years of age and was found as a dirty, skinny stray with some medical concerns and signs of neglect. It's likely he was dumped or abandoned.

After addressing his medical concerns, Aslan was adopted, but unfortunately cannot stay in the home because, as it turns out, he is very aggressive with other cats. He will need to be the only cat in the home. We don't know how he feels about dogs, but he should probably not live with any dogs that are smaller than he is.

Aslan is sweet, affectionate, and loves neck/chin scratches, playing, being brushed, and watching wildlife out the window. He is very vocal and trills a lot, and has learned how to walk on a harness! Aslan is a big sweet baby, and while he may require a bit more work than other cats, we're sure you'll see that he's worth it!

HEALTH:

When Aslan came to us, he was suffering from entropion, a painful condition where a cat's eyelid rolls inward, causing fur/eyelashes to rub against the cornea. It can lead to irritation and infection, ulcers, or even blindness! Unfortunately, this condition is common in Maine Coon cats. Luckily when we had him neutered, the veterinarian was able to perform surgery at the same time to correct his eyelids.

Aslan also suffers from a bit of feline calicivirus, a virus which can cause symptoms such as congestion, sneezing, and runny eyes. This cannot spread to humans or dogs. Aslan is on a long-term antibiotic, occasional eye drops, and daily immune support supplements, and he is feeling so much better!

Because of his ongoing health needs, Aslan's adopter must have an established veterinarian. Applications from those with other cats will not be considered. Thank you!

(All of our cats are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, de-wormed, tested for FeLV/FIV, and treated for fleas before adoption)

Our adoption application and policies can be found on our website. Please submit an adoption application on our website (not an inquiry through Petfinder) if you're interested:

www.secondchancear.org/adopt-1
