Ashley's Story

Ashley is like a phoenix who rose though fire and ashes, quite literally. Sadly, her home burned down a few months ago and she and several other kitties found themselves without a place to go. A local vet graciously took many of them in for emergency boarding, and was even able to find new homes for a few of them! We offered to take Ashley, who was heavily pregnant, and find her a foster home where she could have her kittens. She ended up having them at the vet, and sadly, none of them survived. So, Ashley has lost her home and her babies, but she's a strong, resilient and sweet girl who is ready to be someone's baby herself.

Ashley is about 2 years old, and while she was a little shy at first, she is warming up to be a silly sweetheart. She purrs, nuzzles against hands and sits on laps! She's a big fan of soft blankets and beds, and tube treats. We can't wait to continue watching her personality and confidence blossom, but it would be even better if a home scoops her up quickly! Ashley previously lived with other cats, but we're not sure how much exposure she's had to dogs. Nice, calm ones with proper introductions would likely be fine. Ashley is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.

Apply to adopt your new best friend at www.secondchanceas.org/adopt or at the sanctuary any time we're open. Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process: 1) Fill out an application on our website at www.secondchanceas.org/adopt. Please note that submitting an inquiry through PetFinder or other online listing does not constitute an adoption application. Applications can also be downloaded as a pdf and emailed to secondchanceas@yahoo.com or filled out at the sanctuary any time we're open. 2) We will process your application by calling your veterinarian and personal references. How long this takes depends on how quickly we can reach them. You can help expedite this process by letting them know we'll be calling from the number 570-376-3646. We may also call you to ask additional questions or to share pertinent information about the animal you've applied for. 3) We will inform you of your application's status, usually in a few days to a week. Even if the animal you hoped to adopt goes to another home, you still may be approved to adopt another animal. We attempt to match animals to homes that best fit their personality/needs and vice versa. NOTE: You do not have to apply for a specific animal on your application. You can submit it as a "pre-application" for a certain size, age or breed of animal, and if approved, we can contact you if a possible match arrives at the shelter.
