Apollo (God of Light)'s Story

Meet Apollo. When we found Apollo he had given up on life completely. He barely lifted his head to engage with us and he didn't want to eat. This was because poor Apollo had to fend for himself for years on the streets to NYC, Apollo (God of light) is a pacifist and didn't want to get into squabbles with other cats.. His strategy was to stay under the radar and hope to go unnoticed. Watching Apollo blossom since we rescued him is the brightness in all our days. He is now the easiest companion in the world, no fuss, no muss. He is thriving in his foster home. Apollo is neutered and had his vaccinations. Apollo is FIV+ but this is something we've discovered over years has little to impact on a cats health - all they need is a comfortable environment to live healthy long lives. He needs a quiet home with a gentle owner who is looking for an intelligent companion and Apollo is not the kind of cat braying for food at stupid-o-clock so you'll still get your beauty sleep. Up Manhattan Cat Rescue's Adoption Policy

We vet adopters very carefully 1. Potential adopters complete a detailed adoption application form 2. We ask for 3 references on the form 3. We do either a video or in-person homecheck to ensure that the home is safe, comfortable and has window screens 4. We make sure all adopters have a cat carrier to hand in case of emergencies 5. We have adopters sign an adoption contract 6. We let adopters know that if things don't work out, we can take the cat back. We want to make sure the adoption is a good fit and everyone benefits.

Up Manhattan Cat Rescue aims to reduce the homeless cat population through spay and neuter as well as finding homes for abandoned cats and kittens born to community cats in Washington Heights and Hudson Heights.
