Anisette's Story

Anisette is a 10 year old black spayed female. Originally adopted from MDAS, after her owner died she was left outside by the owners next of kin. When a local trapper and rescuer discovered her, the next of kin requested they take and euthanize her because she was unkempt. She went to a vet clinic that refused to euthanize her and instead found her a foster home. Skinny, and covered in thick mats, she rested in a foster home for weeks, gaining weight and getting twice a day fur combings until all the mats were gone. Over about two months she gained over a pound and half with just good food, quiet rest and TLC.
After doing some bloodwork it was discovered that she has FeLV. She is unphased by this. The foster home reports the following:

“Anisette is a cuddle bug. She loves to rest and make muffins next to us while we work on our computers and listen to classical music. Her most endearing, but messy, trait is that she drinks water by dipping her paw in the water bowl and then licking her paw. A simple wee pad or towel under the water bowl is a must 😊 She has a sneeze every once in a while with a wet nose, but it doesn’t bother her. Her pupils are sometimes different sizes. We were told this is part of her FeLV and just like all things- she is unphased. Perfectly litterbox trained, she never has any accidents. She will snack on some wet food, but it does upset her stomach so we avoid it. She demands to be combed once a day; twice a day is preferred. She has no reaction to our respectful and quiet pomeranian. She does not like being picked up, but tolerates it when necessary. She’s a mature lady so toys are not necessary, but maybe we just haven’t found the right one for her yet. Her favorite is a big bowl of kitten dry food- she self regulates her food so you can just leave it out for her 24/7 and she will eat when she wants.”

Anisettes perfect adopter is someone with a quiet home. Because of her FeLV positive status she should be the only cat or should be paired with another FeLV positive cat if they enjoy each others company. She is not bothered if you leave for several hours everyday- she enjoys her quiet resting time. She would be just as happy with someone who is gone long hours as she would be with someone who works from home. A bowl of water, a bowl of kitten dry food and a cozy spot to sleep is all she needs. Once home she would love to hang near you while you relax and pet/comb her, but does not need to be directly on your lap. She’s happy to just make muffins near you and then finds her resting spot for another bout of hibernation.

Anisette is spay, vaccinated, dewormed, FIV negative, FeLV positive and microchipped.

Located in Miami, but transportation can be arranged.

If you want to make this sweet and chill lady part of your family, please email us at info@littlebeanshoperesce.org or fill out an application here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LBHR/Cat
