Andy Bernard's Story

Introducing our innovative, one-of-a-kind placement program, for our most exasperating and ‘unique’ cats: Bring-Home-A-Brat-Cat, aka, the Troublemaker Transfer Project

Let’s face the facts that all of us in the wild world of rescue are all too familiar: some of the individuals that end up in our facility will more than likely end up as lifelong residents due to quirks and less than desirable qualities that have surfaced during their stays with us thus far at Crash’s.
We currently have 2 CATegories:

There is a special group of cats we have known as Purrmanent Residents that aren’t up for fostering or adoption due to either behavior or bad habits that have been refractory to treatment. However, these kitties are SO sweet and otherwise pure perfection, so we have opted to let them live out their lives with us: Fawn Moscato, Kissy, and Whopper Jr. make up the terrific trifecta of kitties with litterbox issues.

We also have a few gorgeous guys and gals that unfortunately have significant medical conditions that prevent us from placing them on the adoption platform. They require daily medications, frequent veterinary visits, and more intense monitoring than your average pussycat: Benitoe has heart disease and has a history of urinating outside of the box. Bernice has a seizure disorder (and is blind, that that doesn’t stop her from doing anything and everything she wants!) Aloysius, Mantis and Raymond Burr have CKD (chronic kidney disease). Brice, Dean, Polly, Virginnia (the last of the Claws clowder), Babbo Natale and Lord Farquaad are still pretty much semi-feral, tolerating us only because they must, but have bonded so well with one another and have taken full advantage of their comfy surroundings (despite their disdain for humans).
Now on to our Frustrating Felines: the participants of this program are few and far between, thankfully, but cats that have shown us that our free-roaming shelter is not their ideal living sitch. We are confident that by placing each of these cats into homes specifically catering to their emotional needs, individually they are going to turn over a new leaf and finally be able to relax and reach their full potential. In fact, we are offering a pretty darn good proposal for approved adopters who may be interested in something completely unconventional:

No adoption fee. No money down. No cash will exchange hands (er, paws).
We should pay you!

All veterinary visits will be covered (at Feline Wellness Center) for two years post-adoption, and everything will be up to date before bags are packed and travel arrangements made.

Andy Bernard is our resident a-hole has been with us since 8-31-20.

~He’s a ‘good’ boy when he isn’t overwhelmed, but with all the activity that surrounds him day after day, that is a tough ask.

~He is terrified of dogs, and we wouldn’t trust him around kids.

~He is horrible at the vet’s office (I speak from 1st hand, repeated experience) and must be sedated for even the simplest of procedures.

~He wants nothing to do with being adopted and won’t participate in such BS. He is more than content with sleeping through visits and if bothered he throws plenty of shade, making it clear we have disturbed him. Other cats have a plausible cause to loathe him. Kindness towards his roomies is not an Andy virtue.

~He’s cute and he has a stumpy tail.

~He loves playing with stick toys, rolls around on his back when he is offered cat nip, and just likes to lounge around.

~And he is on drugs (YAY for Gabapentin) to allow him to be at least tolerable.

If someone is looking for a cat that isn’t a cuddler, who craves peace and quiet, and will occasionally entertain you IF he is in the mood, then he has at least that much to offer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Soooooo, if you aren’t running away with your tail between your legs yet, if you deem yourself a glutton for punishment, or just feel like throwing caution to the wind with one of the intriguing and unusual cats, let us know! Maybe you are the type that roots for anti-hero, or simply like a challenge – who are we to judge?
