Meet Andromeda
Andromeda is a beautiful 2 year old dilute Calico girl. When too many animals get put into one place, things can get chaotic and even dangerous for the animals. That’s the type of situation Andromeda came from, a home with many, many cats packed into too small a space. Tensions ran high amongst them, and unfortunately, Andromeda in particular was singled out by the others and beaten up with their teeth and claws. A friend of our shelter got ahold of her and removed her from the situation, bringing her to the much calmer and more controlled environment of our cat room.
Andromeda is among the shyer of our cats, picking cozy spots in the room to huddle up in and hide from the other cats. Given her history, she is extremely wary of being around other cats, even when they mean her no harm. When she first arrived, Andromeda had scabs along her back and head, evidence of the scuffles from her past; yet her behavior shows that she has absolutely no fight in her, instead hiding and submitting when confronted by another cat. Her eyes were huge for days, constantly on alert for any sign of attack, and it took her some time to relax enough for staff to peel back the layers of her true personality.
After earning her trust with treats and many gentle pets, Andromeda has come to show her deep love for people. All it takes is someone to sit by her favorite bed and offer a hand, and she headbutts right into it and rolls over for more attention. And if you bring her wet food…she’ll be your bestie for life. Andromeda has even grown brave enough to emerge from her bed all on her own, seeking out further love and reassurance from staff and visitors. Out in the light, she showed off her beautiful dilute calico colors and markings, speckled like the galaxy she’s named for. Still, other cats coming near triggers her anxiety, so she would do best in a home with no other felines, dogs, or small children. In such a peaceful environment, Andromeda can continue her journey to full recovery and comfort, and you can bet that she will show her gratitude through companionship and so, so much love.
We're open Wednesday - Sunday 12 - 5 p.m but are doing meet & greets and adoptions by appointment only.
The adoption fee is $85 which includes a free veterinary exam within 2 weeks of adoption at local participating vets, up to date vaccinations, test for FELV/FIV, dewormer, flea preventative, microchip, & spay or neuter.
