Andre's Story
This is Andre (named after the giant!) This retired tom cat is a survivor. While he likely had a home at some point, he had to toughen up when he ended up on the streets in a rough neighborhood. He was brought into the shelter for TNR (trap, neuter/ vaccinate, re-release) but he seemed to need more help than the average feral cat. Andre was beat up and experiencing a lot of pain in his mouth and face. With a lot of time, medicine, and TLC (and thorough dental treatment!) his health improved greatly. He has tested a light positive for FIV, but with a safe and healthy home this will not affect him long-term.

It is suspected that Andre may have had a run-in with a dog during his tom cat days, as he tries to fight dogs on sight and does not back down. This limits his freedom at the shelter. He would be much happier if he could be in a dog-free home as either a solo pet, or with cats who can respect his more dominant nature.

The shelter has an appointment only policy. We ask potential adopters to fill out our application, prior to a scheduled meeting. The staff is very accommodating, and we welcome any inquires.
This link will take you to our adoption application.
https://capemaycountynj.gov/DocumentCenter/View/5814/Adoption-Application
