America's Story

Meet America — From Storm Drain Survivor to Beloved Lap Kitten!

America’s story is one of courage, transformation, and discovering just how wonderful life can be when you’re safe and loved.

This beautiful calico kitten was trying to survive beside an extremely busy road, hiding in a storm drain. The only time we would catch a glimpse of her was when she cautiously crawled out to eat at a nearby feeding station. She would keep her little body pressed close to the ground as she scampered to her food, then quickly retreat to the safety of the storm drain.

We expected America would need weeks to feel comfortable around people. But this brave little girl had other plans! After her spay surgery, America went into a recovery cage—and something amazing happened. Within just two days, she began responding positively to our voices and touch. Instead of hiding, she started asking for attention! She settled into indoor life beautifully and has continued to flourish.

America is now discovering all the joys of being a pampered house kitten. She loves to play, and when it’s exercise time, she makes the most of every minute—running, chasing toys, pouncing, and generally having the best time imaginable. When playtime is over, she is happy to be held like a baby and enjoys all the cozy amenities of her new indoor lifestyle.

Although her tiny weight initially suggested she was younger, her teeth told us she was actually a couple of months older. We originally planned to keep her for just a few weeks to help her gain weight. Instead, America quickly showed us that she was ready to embrace her new life.

From a frightened kitten hiding beside a busy road to a playful little girl who cries for attention and loves being cuddled, America has completely changed—and she is absolutely flourishing.

America would love another cat in the home because she’s very playful. America is exceptional! Now she just needs the next chapter of her story: a loving forever home where she can continue to be spoiled, cherished, and loved.
