Alma's Story

Meet Alma, our newest mommy out at the shelter!

It seems like we have just been flooded with pregnant cats this year! Alma is the newest in the long line of mothers looking for a safe place to have their kittens. Like the others, Alma arrived to us as a stray and was only days away from giving birth. She gave birth to four gorgeous babies, and now that they've all found their forever homes, it is finally her turn!

We believe Alma to be around 3 years old. She has been spayed and given her first vaccinations as well. We actually had a chance to chat with her finder, and they said that Alma was an outdoor kitty that had become well known in their neighborhood. No one laid claim to her, but they all took turns taking care of her, and had even nicknamed her their little 'princess.. Having been used to an outdoor life, Alma was pretty scared when she first arrived here. She has never been aggressive with us, but she prefers small spaces where she can hide and feel safe. We gave her a while to adjust to this new environment, and she is finally starting to come out of her shell! Now she loves to be indoors as long as she has a hidey hole available. As her kittens are getting older and have started exploring their room, Alma is coming out too and wandering around. She loves wet food, and will gladly come out of her hiding spots for a special treat! She also loves to be pet, and will rub up on your hand while you give her some love.

Since Alma was a stray, we don't know much about her history. She's sweet, albeit a little timid, with everyone she's met here. We have noticed, though, that Alma doesn't seem to be a huge fan of other cats. We strongly recommend a meet and greet with any pets in the home to make sure Alma would be a good fit.

Alma has finally weaned her kittens and is now eagerly searching for a loving family to call her own.
