Alexa was rescued from a NYC shelter where she was at risk for euthanasia due to shelter crowding. She was part of a hoarding situation and had spent most of her life in a crowded basement along with many other cats. Her exposure to human beings was low so she is quite shy, but not mean or nasty. She is what we call a "spirit" cat, a cat that will always be near you in spirit. She is independent and enjoys sleeping on her cat tree in foster care, spending time with other cat friends and loves to eat treats. Alexa would be best in a home with other cats and with an owner who has experience with shy cats. A quieter home is also ideal for a cat like Alexa, so a home with young children will not be a great fit.

1. If she is posted on petfinder.com, she is still available for adoption or may have an adoption pending. Please do not email us asking if she's available, instead please complete our adoption application.

2. We have limited staff to manage the amount of adoption inquiries and individual questions we receive on all of our adoptable cats and therefore we do not respond to emails or phone calls about the cats posted unless there is an adoption application sent in first.

3. If you want to explore options about adopting Alexa or have questions about another cat you've seen online, please complete our adoption application first. We review applications on a first come, first serve basis. It may take 3-5 business days for us to respond to your application. We will not respond to your application if we have either; found an adopter, or believe your home/situation is not the best fit for the cat. Our goal is to insure the highest possibility of a successful adoption that lasts the cat's entire lifetime.
