Albert is a big, gentle teddy bear of a cat with soft green eyes, an even softer purr, and a whole lot of love to give.<br/><br/>At two years old and an impressive 18 pounds, this handsome tuxedo boy is happiest simply being near his people. He loves affection and will hop into your lap for a little one-on-one attention, but when it's time for serious lounging, Albert prefers to stretch his big self out beside you on the couch or floor and settle in for head scratches and belly rubs.<br/><br/>He's also got a wonderfully playful side. Albert loves wrestling with his kitten foster friend, batting at wand toys, and proudly trotting across the room with a soft toy clenched in his mouth like he's captured the greatest prize imaginable. When playtime is over, you'll often find him perched on the back of the couch, quietly watching the world go by outside the window.<br/><br/>Albert is very cat friendly and dog friendly, and we think he would be happiest in a home with a companion pet. Older, calm children would be fine, but little ones are simply too much for this sensitive guy.<br/><br/>And that's actually how Albert came to us.<br/><br/>He was originally found as a stray kitten in Ohio and moved to Mississippi with the family who loved him and fully intended for him to remain part of their family. But as their baby became a busy, loud, grabby toddler, gentle Albert became increasingly overwhelmed. He spent much of his time hiding and would only relax and come out once the little one was asleep.<br/><br/>With another baby on the way, his family made the difficult decision that Albert deserved a home where he could feel comfortable and confident again, and they reached out to OCC for help.<br/><br/>After a short adjustment period in foster care, that Albert is already coming back. He's gaining confidence, enjoying being the center of attention, playing with his feline friend, and reminding us what a sweet, pleasant, easygoing boy he really is.<br/><br/>Albert has impeccable litter box manners—although a gentleman of his proportions does require an XL litter box! He enjoys his cardboard scratchers, considers Temptations Seafood Treats an important food group, and asks for very little beyond companionship, affection, and a peaceful place to call home.<br/><br/>Albert isn't a cat who needs constant excitement. He just wants to feel safe, have a furry friend to play with, and belong to someone who appreciates a big, sensitive sweetheart.<br/><br/>Give Albert a little room on your couch and a lot of love in your home, and this gentle giant will give it right back for years to come. <br/><br/>All of the Sweet Paws animals are loved a great deal by their rescuers, fosters, and the volunteers who've cared for them along the way. Your kitten will be up to date on appropriate vaccinations by adoption day, but please keep in mind that kittens require multiple routine vet visits throughout the course of their first year. Sweet Paws is staffed by volunteers, and processing applications is time intensive; therefore, we ask that you only submit an application if you are fully committed to adopting.
