Affectionate Atticus's Story
Atticus is an angel. Atticus was dumped at our colony in the Bronx in early December. When our Rescuer showed up, he was running up and down the sidewalk, asking people for help and for food. She simply scruffed him and put him in a carrier with no fight whatsoever. Within minutes of arriving to his foster’s house, he wanted to be out of his pen. He is confident and unfazed, and just happy to be inside and loved.

Atticus is a chill fellow, very low maintenance. If we were giving out superlatives, he’d be “Most Easy-going.” He’s a polite boy with a loving gaze. While very affectionate, he’s uncomfortable with hands coming directly at his face (not uncommon), so reach for his cheek or his body, and he’ll lean into it.

He does like to be up high, so tall cat trees will be a hit with him- especially if you reach out and pet him on the way by. Atticus is a medium energy boy. He’s an excellent jumper, but he’s not a cat that is bouncing off the walls. He’s currently in the habit of hopping up on counters while his foster mom makes breakfast (but will get down if told).

Atticus has a moderate heart murmur (grade 2-3 out of 6), so will require cardiac safe protocols for future vetting. Also, he is a little bit of a picky eater, and will need attention paid to make sure his litterbox habits remain regular.

Atticus could be fine as a solo cat. He’s comfortable with cats, but doesn’t need or seek feline friends. He has not met dogs, but he could be fine with a cat savvy dog after a proper introduction. He’s so gentle we expect him to be great with kids over 8. He's FIV/FeLV negative, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped.

Atticus is in foster in southern CT, but we travel for great homes!
