You can call me Mr. Abe; my foster mom does, and I like it. I am a very grateful 9-year-old cat who transferred to HSHC from a crowded shelter in February. I have spent much of my time in Sick Bay and recovering in foster care, but I am officially up for adoption now! I had awful ear infections, wounds from cat fights, and a nasty upper respiratory infection. Add to that I tested positive for FIV, and you have a pretty sad story. FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and is a slowly developing virus that affects a cat's immune system over time. It CANNOT be spread casually through litterboxes, food and water dishes, or snuggling or playing. FIV+ cats can live with FIV- cats and not transmit the virus. So it's no biggie. However, I am feeling better than ever and excited to start the next chapter of my life. My foster mom said I was an angel, and I miss her. She spoiled me with cat TV shows, a giant fluffy bed, an XL litterbox, a scratcher post, and plenty of TLC! I looked like a down-on-his-luck fellow when I arrived. Now, I'm looking pretty spiffy! I am definitely a lover and not a fighter. I am much more interested in public displays of affection and cuddling. I seem to charm all the folks who meet me.
