Abigail's Story

Abigail is a sweet older cat with some health issues. If you ever meet her, she's a little snuffly as she's dealt with sinus issues her whole life (it also means she's a little snotty when it flares up badly) and takes medication regularly to help keep it under control. Don't let the occasional snot throw you off though, she's an affectionate and talkative lady that will follow you around and supervises what you're doing. However, if you have windows and areas to look outside, she may desert you to watch the birds and wildlife! She'll play and help you clean litter boxes, although her idea of helping is to roll around in them sometimes. If you're looking for a sweet cat past her kitten stages to be a companion, she's a wonderful candidate!

Cat Association of Topeka's Adoption Policy
Anyone interested in adopting a cat or kitten is asked to fill out an application. This enables us to assist them in selecting a cat or kitten best suited to their wants and lifestyle. It also helps us avoid placing a cat in a situation where it may become stressed or endangered. We also ask that all family members come in to help pick out a cat.  The shelter will accept the return of any cat (adopted from C.A.T.) for any reason.  When a cat is brought into the shelter it is given a general exam, receives an upper respiratory vaccination, dewormed and a rabies vaccination. It is then spayed/neutered, tested for Feline Leukemia or Feline AIDS, and made available for adoption. Once an application is approved, adoption fees are $100 for kittens up to 6 months old, $75 for 6 months to 9 years old, and $35 for senior cats 10+ years old.  All new owners get a 10% discount in our Catty Shack Retail shop
