Abbey - Chonky Chonk Badonkadonk's Story
I have ONE piece of the Christmas tree out of the box and in the stand for all of 17 seconds, and BAM! Here comes Abbey, my chonky foster kitty, chewing every branch. Now in all fairness to Abbey, she's always hungry and I suppose the tree looked like fair game. Sigh. She's lucky she's so adorable.
Abbey was born into our rescue and adopted out as a kitten in 2018. She was returned in 2022, with a litany of issues as reported by her adopters. Destructive, peeing outside of the box, constantly hiding, etc. I thought we'd be getting back a cat with all sorts of behavioral problems.
I have had ZERO issues with her. None (ok, well, aside from chewing the Christmas tree, snagging an entire slice of pizza or piece of chicken and trying to abscond with it when the opportunity presents itself - she is very food motivated. Same, girl, same.). She is a beautiful girl and she makes my heart happy. She's almost 8 years old now and she's overlooked day after day as so many adult cats are. She's been back in foster care for over 2 years.
Here's what Abbey is NOT: 1) a lapcat, 2) a cat that's going to snuggle you, 3) a cat that is going to be a playmate for another cat.
Here's what Abbey IS: 1) sweet, 2) funny, 3) independent, 4) smart, and 5) a wonderful companion.
She's always nearby, she likes to hang out, loves a good sunny spot to sleep in, enjoys a cat tree for a long nap, peacefully co-exists with all the other cats and dogs in the house and is a pro at pretending they don't exist, an excellent alarm clock (she is the first to remind me it's dinnertime), and she's just a joy.
She would be perfect for someone who works long hours but feels guilty about leaving a pet alone for 12+ hours, but Abbey would be fine with that. She's content to have someone feed her, give her a little bit of love every now and then, and needs someone who won't get too mad at her if she steals half their sandwich.
Hopefully by next Christmas this precious girl will be in her forever home. Until then, I will love having her here with me, and I'll just keep yelling "ABBEY!" when I hear the tree branches crunching....

Abbey's adoption fee is $125.

We require an approved application prior to scheduling any meet and greets. Applications can be found on www.ABRAangels.com or you can request one at ABRAangels@gmail.com. Adoption includes spay/neuter, rabies and deworming and vaccines.

WE DO NOT ALLOW OUR CATS OR KITTENS TO BE DECLAWED!!!! Declawing is an owner convenience and serves no benefit to the cat. If you adopt a kitten/kitten and we find out it has been declawed, not only will you lose your adoption fee, but we have the right to reclaim the cat.
