Wilson's Story

Wilson is a delight! Found in a city backyard by a Good Samaritan, she immediately made herself right at home with her foster family. Unlike many of the birds who come to us, she needed absolutely no transition to a healthy diet and has been gobbling up pellets and chop since day one. She can frequently be found tail-up in her food bowl. Fearless Wilson will step up most of the time, unless she just doesn't feel like it. Now you might notice that Wilson has a bit of a funny foot. This was caused by a recent ankle injury that didn't heal quite in alignment. But it doesn't slow Wilson down one iota! Active and agile, she loves her swing, her rope boing, and running along the bottom of her cage to see what's going on around her. She has become a very capable flier and would appreciate the chance to keep practicing this in her new home. Wilson frequently amuses her foster family by hanging upside-down in her cage and peering out. Her other favorite things are singing beautiful budgie songs all day long and attacking Nutri-berries. Wilson's cage in her new home will need to have plenty of perch options, including rope perches and a flat perch, to support her foot and help prevent arthritis developing in the future. We would love for Wilson to go to a home with other budgies, as she is fascinated with the birds in her foster home. If your flock is looking for a new friend, Wilson here is about as perfect as a budgie can be! Adoption fee: $15

STAR - St. Louis Avian Rescue's Adoption Policy
Please note, due to the quantity of emails that we receive, simply "starting an inquiry" will not receive a reply. Please email info@staravian.org if you have a specific question. The first step is to fill out an Adoption Application, which can be found on our website. All birds are in volunteer foster homes, and a meeting may not be set up until you are approved to adopt. Our adoption team will process your application and set up a home visit. All current pets (including any birds cockatiel and larger) must be up to date on yearly wellness exams and any state mandated vaccines. We do not ship birds, and have a 100-mile adoption radius (using St. Louis Lambert Airport as the start point). We do not adopt to breeders. We are not able to adopt birds into homes that use Teflon product or smoke due to toxicity dangers.
