My name is Sunny, and I am a handsome Sun Conure looking for my forever home.<br/><br/>I was found by a kind person and brought to Florida Parrot Rescue while everyone hoped my family would be found. Although no one came forward to claim me, maybe that's because my perfect person is still out there waiting to meet me. Could it be you?<br/><br/>I'm a bird with a big personality and an even bigger heart. I love being part of the action and prefer to fly to my favorite person rather than being picked up from my cage. Once I'm away from my cage, I enjoy spending time with my people, whether that's perched on a shoulder or hanging out nearby where I can keep an eye on everything. I can be a little choosy about my humans at first, but I've shown I can bond with both men and women. I may warm up to men a little faster, but with patience and kindness, I'll let the right person into my circle.<br/><br/>Like many Sun Conures, I have a lot to say! I can be loud, especially when I'm excited or greeting my people, so I wouldn't be the best fit for an apartment, condo, or anyone looking for a quiet companion.<br/><br/>I thrive on routine and appreciate a predictable schedule. Out-of-cage time is very important to me, and I look forward to it every day. In fact, I usually wait until I'm out of my cage to do my business. I also have a fun, playful side. I love listening to music, ringing my bell after a good jam session, and enthusiastically attacking my toys. My foster family affectionately calls me Mr. Grumpy Grumple when I get a little carried away during playtime. One of my favorite hobbies is building little forts out of cardboard boxes in the bottom of my cage. It's my happy place.<br/><br/>When it comes to food, I'm a bit particular. Seeds are my favorite, and I tolerate pellets. Almonds are my favorite treat, and while chop isn't at the top of my menu, I will happily accept some fruits and vegetables from your hand. I also enjoy scrambled eggs and small pieces of chicken or turkey.<br/><br/>Because I can be territorial around my cage and enjoy being the center of attention, my foster family feels I would thrive as the only bird in the home. I have shown interest in chasing other birds and have even dive-bombed dogs, so any home with other pets would require careful introductions and management. That said, birds are incredibly resilient, and with patience, consistency, and the right person, amazing things can happen.<br/><br/>Beneath my tough exterior is a bird who simply wants to feel safe enough to let his guard down. I'm looking for someone who understands that trust takes time and is willing to build a relationship at my pace.
