Simba's Story

Simba is small, scrappy, and totally irresistible.
At 15 years old, this Senegal parrot has a big personality packed into a little feathery frame--and he's more than ready to settle down for good. Life hasn't always been easy for Simba, and he's been returned to STAR through no fault of his own. He's hoping his next family is forever--and he's not shy about saying so.

Simba is friendly, cuddly, and all about the head scratches. He'll fly to whichever human looks most likely to deliver the goods and purrs like a cat when he's getting scritches. He's also a fan of laughing, beeping, and tossing things off kitchen counters (before heading down to investigate his own mess).

He's curious and social, happily exploring the house, visiting his bird neighbors, or lounging in the kitchen sink (yes, really). Despite his slightly scruffy chest, he's full of confidence and charm. He loves Nutriberries, playing on the ground, and hanging out wherever the action is--especially if the action involves attention.

While Simba isn't excessively loud, he can get vocal when excited, so a home without shared walls is ideal. He's also very comfortable around other birds, but his heart is really set on finding his person--someone who'll let him be the sweet, mischievous little sidekick he was born to be.

Adoption Fee: $225

STAR - St. Louis Avian Rescue's Adoption Policy
Please note, due to the quantity of emails that we receive, simply "starting an inquiry" will not receive a reply. Please email info@staravian.org if you have a specific question. The first step is to fill out an Adoption Application, which can be found on our website. All birds are in volunteer foster homes, and a meeting may not be set up until you are approved to adopt. Our adoption team will process your application and set up a home visit. All current pets (including any birds cockatiel and larger) must be up to date on yearly wellness exams and any state mandated vaccines. We do not ship birds, and have a 100-mile adoption radius (using St. Louis Lambert Airport as the start point). We do not adopt to breeders. We are not able to adopt birds into homes that use Teflon product or smoke due to toxicity dangers.
