Simba's Story

Meet Simba, a small Senegal parrot with a huge personality, a cuddly side, and just enough mischief to keep life interesting.

At around 15 years old, Simba is a confident, charming little bird who knows exactly how to win people over. He has been returned to STAR through no fault of his own and is very ready for his true forever home.

Simba is affectionate, social, and a big fan of head scratches. He will happily fly to the human most likely to provide them and rewards good scritches with contented purring sounds. He also enjoys laughing, beeping, and testing gravity by tossing objects off counters and then climbing down to inspect his handiwork.

Curious and outgoing, Simba loves being part of the household. He enjoys exploring, visiting nearby bird friends, playing on the ground, and even lounging in the kitchen sink. He may have a slightly scruffy chest, but it does nothing to slow him down or dampen his confidence. Nutriberries are a favorite, and wherever the action is, Simba wants to be right in the middle of it.

Simba is not excessively loud, but he can get vocal when excited, so a home without shared walls is ideal. He is comfortable around other birds, but what he truly wants is a strong bond with his person and the chance to be a constant companion.

Lovable, clever, and just a little bit mischievous, Simba is the kind of bird who quickly becomes the heart of the home. He is ready for a family that appreciates both his sweet side and his playful troublemaking.

Adoption Fee: $225

STAR - St. Louis Avian Rescue's Adoption Policy
Please note, due to the quantity of emails that we receive, simply "starting an inquiry" will not receive a reply. Please email info@staravian.org if you have a specific question. The first step is to fill out an Adoption Application, which can be found on our website. All birds are in volunteer foster homes, and a meeting may not be set up until you are approved to adopt. Our adoption team will process your application and set up a home visit. All current pets (including any birds cockatiel and larger) must be up to date on yearly wellness exams and any state mandated vaccines. We do not ship birds, and have a 100-mile adoption radius (using St. Louis Lambert Airport as the start point). We do not adopt to breeders. We are not able to adopt birds into homes that use Teflon product or smoke due to toxicity dangers.
