Ringo's Story

Paul & Ringo: A Bonded Cockatiel Pair with Big Personalities, Strong Opinions, and Zero Interest in Hands!

Paul and Ringo are sweet, bonded brothers who have been with STAR for nearly two years, and honestly, we do not understand how they are still waiting for a home. These two are absolutely delightful, endlessly entertaining, and completely themselves.

Both boys are happy, healthy, and thriving on Harrison's pellets. They also look forward to a daily Nutriberry and enjoy a rotating menu of veggies, including lettuce, green beans, and black beans. They are famously picky and tend to change their preferences day to day. Ringo would like everyone to know that carrots of any size are terrifying and should not be trusted.

Paul and Ringo are very social birds, just not in the hands-on way. They do not want to interact with hands and have made that boundary very clear. That said, they love being part of the household and spending time with their people on their own terms. Ringo adores shoulder time with a standing human. Paul prefers heads, but has recently decided he must also be on the shoulder with Ringo. This results in Paul climbing down faces to reach his preferred spot, which can turn into a slow, awkward, and very funny bird race around your body. Paul must be on the inside shoulder next to Ringo. This rule is non-negotiable in Paul's mind.

Paul is the more emotionally expressive of the two and is most comfortable perched on heads or close to his person. Ringo is calmer and more confident, and while he tolerates Paul's antics, he clearly prefers to keep his spot once he has claimed it. Together, they fly daily, spend lots of time playing, and enjoy being active and engaged in their environment.

These boys are very sweet, gentle, and a bit stuck in their ways. They are not looking to become cuddly lap birds, but they are wonderful companions for someone who enjoys observing bird behavior, sharing space, and laughing at the daily antics of two very opinionated cockatiels.

Paul and Ringo are looking for a calm home that will appreciate them exactly as they are and let them enjoy their golden years together. For the right family, they offer companionship, comedy, and a front row seat to one of the best double acts around.
Adoption Fee: $240 for the pair

STAR - St. Louis Avian Rescue's Adoption Policy
Please note, due to the quantity of emails that we receive, simply "starting an inquiry" will not receive a reply. Please email info@staravian.org if you have a specific question. The first step is to fill out an Adoption Application, which can be found on our website. All birds are in volunteer foster homes, and a meeting may not be set up until you are approved to adopt. Our adoption team will process your application and set up a home visit. All current pets (including any birds cockatiel and larger) must be up to date on yearly wellness exams and any state mandated vaccines. We do not ship birds, and have a 100-mile adoption radius (using St. Louis Lambert Airport as the start point). We do not adopt to breeders. We are not able to adopt birds into homes that use Teflon product or smoke due to toxicity dangers.
