Peepers's Story

Peepers is ready to party--with snacks.
This adorable Bare-eyed cockatoo is equal parts goofball and sweetheart. Whether she's bouncing around her cage, dancing her little heart out to Disney tunes, or demanding to inspect your snack supply, Peepers is always ready to be part of the action.

She adores her Harrison's pellets, never says no to veggies, and will happily eat just about anything that lands in her bowl. Cardboard toys? A hit. Being near her people in the living room? The best. She's happiest when she's in the middle of the fun, head-bopping with excitement and soaking up all the attention (but only when she decides it's the right time--consent matters, even in birds!).

Peepers communicates clearly when she's done socializing, making her a great match for someone who understands bird body language and respects her boundaries. She's a loveable, high-energy bird who thrives with companionship, enrichment, and a routine that includes lots of time near her flock.

Peepers has tested positive for Avian Bornavirus (ABV), so she'll need a home that's mindful of regular vet care and understands how to manage that diagnosis. And while we call her "she," her gender hasn't been DNA confirmed.

Because she's a cockatoo (and not shy about expressing herself), Peepers isn't suited for apartment living. But if your home is full of heart, snacks, and music--Peepers is ready to move in.

Adoption Fee: $340

STAR - St. Louis Avian Rescue's Adoption Policy
Please note, due to the quantity of emails that we receive, simply "starting an inquiry" will not receive a reply. Please email info@staravian.org if you have a specific question. The first step is to fill out an Adoption Application, which can be found on our website. All birds are in volunteer foster homes, and a meeting may not be set up until you are approved to adopt. Our adoption team will process your application and set up a home visit. All current pets (including any birds cockatiel and larger) must be up to date on yearly wellness exams and any state mandated vaccines. We do not ship birds, and have a 100-mile adoption radius (using St. Louis Lambert Airport as the start point). We do not adopt to breeders. We are not able to adopt birds into homes that use Teflon product or smoke due to toxicity dangers.
