Paulie's Story

Meet the lovely lady Paulie! This girl is known for being curious, entertaining, and vocal. She is used to spending time out of her enclosure and being handled regularly. Paulie is rope trained and used to being taken in/out of her enclosure with ropes. She knows the command "step up." Paulie is known for screaming at the mail carrier when they drop off a delivery - a conure at her finest!

Paulie is very friendly once she gets to know you and starts to build a trusting bond. She is known to get excited whenever you get home and enjoys having company. She is used to having her enclosure switched up periodically to keep her interested and enriched - conures require lots of enrichment and stimulation to keep their minds busy and them happy. Paulie is also used to having a nightlight on in her room at night and having her cage covered overnight.

Paulie is used to being fed Harrison lifetime mash in the morning with a piece of cashew as a treat and PureFun Pellets and a few Nutri-Berries and sunflower seeds in the evening. Quality formulated pellets should generally make up the foundation of the diet, but a variety of fresh vegetables, such as leafy greens, carrots, bell peppers, and broccoli can be added.

Paulie is noted to be very hormonal and tends to lay eggs frequently. It is recommended not to pet below the shoulders as this excites conures. It is important to speak with an avian veterinarian regarding maintenance. We are looking for a more experienced owner, ready to provide care for the next 10-20 years. Ask a TCHS staff member if you have any questions!

*Adoption holds may be placed on available animals in person or by calling (320) 252-0896. An adoption hold reserves available animals for one day after the animal is ready to be adopted. More than one adoption hold may be placed on an available animal and will be honored in the order they were received. Adoption holds are $25 plus tax, are non-refundable, non-transferable and not applied toward the adoption fee.

**Minnesota sales tax and an administrative fee ($20 for cats/dogs and $10 for small animals) will be applied to all adoptions. Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinating, deworming, any medical procedures, and general care of all shelter animals.
