Ozzy

Ozzy is a female Congo African Grey which means that she is grey with red tail feathers (not maroon). She was hatched in December 1998; and yes, she lays eggs. She has a vocabulary and in her time at the shelter she has picked up meowing like one of the kittens and barking like one of the dogs. She knows some songs and because we chat with her every day, she has also picked up pretty girl, you hungry? She makes the microwave beep sound or the truck backing up sound and Pew, Pew. She prefers men. She is kind of quiet for a Parrot and does not appear to be a screamer which is a treat! She enjoys her food and even sharing your meal if you are willing. While on duty, her cage doors are open, but we close them at night. She did not seem comfortable with the routine cage covering at night so we do not do that. She will sit on top of her cage, on the doors, or the ramps/perches on the outside of her cage but she does not wander. She has also been kind enough not to fly off or chew the moulding. To me, an experience Parrot owner, she is low maintenance. She likes fresh food & water and clean cage papers every day. Personally, I would find a large bowl attachment so she good enjoy bathing. She has been eating Lafeber macaw pellets & nutraberries, colorful parrot food, parrot seed diet, peanuts, pistachio, etc. She is interested in trying. She appears to wave when we greet her in the morning. She is an awesome girl!
