Ollie's Story

Say hello to Ollie, a bright and beautiful Sun Conure with a big personality and an even bigger heart. At 13 years young, Ollie is continuing to blossom in foster care and has made wonderful progress as she settles into a routine and builds trust with her people.

Ollie feels most confident in her cage, which she considers her safe space. She loves exploring every corner of it and enjoys spending time perched in her favorite spots. She can be a bit protective of her space during cage cleaning, so she does best with someone who understands bird body language and respects her boundaries.

Outside of her cage is where her sweet personality really shines. Once she knows it is time to come out, she is happy to do so and truly enjoys being with her people. She loves snacking, cuddling, and spending time nearby, and she greets anyone who walks through the door with her impressive and cheerful vocalizations. She is especially affectionate once she feels safe and comfortable.

Ollie is still working on her balance and coordination, especially when stepping up. She sometimes grips a bit harder than intended, not out of aggression, but simply to steady herself. With patience and gentle guidance, she continues to improve and grow more confident every day. She will step up willingly and enjoys short periods of shoulder time, especially when her person is calm and seated.

She has been enjoying a steady diet and absolutely loves her fresh fruits, with apples, bananas, and mangos being her favorites. She gets very excited for snack time and happily accepts treats.

Ollie thrives on routine and does best in a calm, patient home that understands that trust takes time. She would do well with someone who appreciates small victories and enjoys building a bond at her pace. With consistency, kindness, and love, she continues to show just how special she is.

Medical note: Ollie does have a heart murmur that will need ongoing monitoring in her forever home.

Ollie is a sweet, expressive girl who is learning every day that the world can be a safe and loving place. She will make a wonderful companion for someone willing to meet her where she is and grow with her. Adoption fee: $250

STAR - St. Louis Avian Rescue's Adoption Policy
Please note, due to the quantity of emails that we receive, simply "starting an inquiry" will not receive a reply. Please email info@staravian.org if you have a specific question. The first step is to fill out an Adoption Application, which can be found on our website. All birds are in volunteer foster homes, and a meeting may not be set up until you are approved to adopt. Our adoption team will process your application and set up a home visit. All current pets (including any birds cockatiel and larger) must be up to date on yearly wellness exams and any state mandated vaccines. We do not ship birds, and have a 100-mile adoption radius (using St. Louis Lambert Airport as the start point). We do not adopt to breeders. We are not able to adopt birds into homes that use Teflon product or smoke due to toxicity dangers.
