Ned's Story

At 25 years old, Ned and Nadine are a bonded pair of Nanday Conures who know exactly what they like: each other, fresh veggies, and being admired from a respectful distance. They are active, curious, and full of personality, but they're not looking for a hands-on relationship with people. While they're timid around humans, they have crystal-clear body language and will happily accept treats (especially veggies!) from a respectful distance.
These two love their food--fresh veggies are a favorite--and mealtime is when you'll see them at their most animated. They haven't yet embraced the idea of pellets, but they're slowly learning better habits in foster care. Bathing? Not their thing--but they'll tolerate a light mist if it means staying fresh.

Ned and Nadine are incredibly loud, as Nandays tend to be, and are not suitable for apartments or shared-wall living situations. They're looking for a calm, patient home that will respect their boundaries and enjoy their company from across the room. Most of the time, you'll find them side-by-side on their favorite rope perch, taking in the world together.

If you have space in your heart (and your home) for two spirited seniors who just want to be birds, Ned and Nadine might be the perfect pair for you.
Adoption Fee: $300 for both birds

STAR - St. Louis Avian Rescue's Adoption Policy
Please note, due to the quantity of emails that we receive, simply "starting an inquiry" will not receive a reply. Please email info@staravian.org if you have a specific question. The first step is to fill out an Adoption Application, which can be found on our website. All birds are in volunteer foster homes, and a meeting may not be set up until you are approved to adopt. Our adoption team will process your application and set up a home visit. All current pets (including any birds cockatiel and larger) must be up to date on yearly wellness exams and any state mandated vaccines. We do not ship birds, and have a 100-mile adoption radius (using St. Louis Lambert Airport as the start point). We do not adopt to breeders. We are not able to adopt birds into homes that use Teflon product or smoke due to toxicity dangers.
