Mary Jane's Story

Racing pigeons struggle against the odds to return to their lofts. Imagine being forced into racing across hundreds of miles of open sky. As an adult pigeon with some experience this is a formidable task. Yet here is Mary Jane, who was still a juvenile pigeon...voice not changed to a mature "coo" nor the iridescent necklace of feathers grown in or the extended length of tail feathers. Young birds simply cannot make good decisions on their own, and Mary Jane did not even have enough feathers to fly properly. Found emaciated and not even able to stand upright on her own...fortunately rescued by GLPR and given emergency fluids and supportive feeding to save her little life! Another innocent and unsuspecting survivor of the cruel racing pigeon circuit. A blue bar beauty describes the now matured Mary Jane. With an amazing recovery behind MJ and a hopeful new chapter in life ahead... a lovely and caring forever home would be the perfect beginning . Sweet child of mine the world is at your feet!
