Marco's Story

ALL ADOPTERS MUST LIVE WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF EDGERTON, WI 53534
To meet any of Feathered Friends Sanctuary & Rescue birds, a complete questionnaire is REQUIRED.
Please go to our website www.feathered-friends.com/adoption for more information and to submit the questionnaire.

Hi! I'm Marco.
I'm an approximately 30 year old assumed male Blue and Gold Macaw.
I hate this part of these profiles. It's so hard to talk about yourself, ya know? What can I say? Well, some would say I'm a 'rebel bird.' I dont make the best choices sometimes, and occasionally, someone has 'allegedly' gotten bit. It's not that I WANT to hurt anyone, I just get overwhelmed with excitement sometimes or overstimulated, and I have 'allegedly' bitten someone before.
If you want to be a part of my flock, you're going to have to be patient with me and be willing to learn my body language. If you can help me work through situations in positive ways before I get carried away, that would be great! Oh, and someone who wants to dance and laugh with me would be even better! I LOVE a good joke, and if you're laughing, I want to be, too! I've been told I'm quite goofy and hilarious.
Yes, I have made a bad rep for himself on occasion, but if you slow down with me, give me a chance to look you over and assess you, you'll be met by a curious and charming lover bird. It takes me a bit to warm up, but once I do, I'm yours forever! I like to mess with new people sometimes. I really am funny.
I will need someone with patience, the willingness to learn my body language, and to work with me to express myself in more positive ways. Experience with macaws would be a huge bonus.
Let's make a date!
We will not have ANY discussions about our birds without an approved questionnaire.
We will NOT respond to emails sent from here.
Please go to www.feathered-friends.com/adoption for more info.

Feathered Friends Sanctuary & Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
01. Our # 1 priority is the birds we care for. We must consider the needs of our birds before the needs of our adopters. 02. One of the most common questions we get is... "how many visits". Unfortunately, it really depends. It depends on the bird, the adopter and how well they're getting to know one another. We're not only observing the adopter, but we're observing the bird to see how they react to the adopter compared with how they've reacted to other people. For all our birds, but especially for larger species, please plan to make MULTIPLE visits to the sanctuary so that you can interact and bond with your chosen bird. This is intended to benefit both you and the bird. Often times adopters are understandably excited about their pending adoption, or they're worried about committing more time and gas money to the adoption process. It is for this reason that we do not consider applicants that live more than 2 hours from our facility. We will not rush our adoption process. 03. Yes, we do charge a fee to adopt a bird. This is one of the key sources of income used to keep our doors open. There is a great deal of time, money, sweat, blood, and tears that goes into the rehabilitation of our birds. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity, surviving entirely on donations, grants, and adoption fees. It is our primary source of revenue. And this model does not allow us to give the birds away. To do this would be to let down the birds that we are currently caring for and eventually cause us to shut our doors. If you are looking for a free bird, please look elsewhere. Please do not call or email and ask the prices of our birds. The adoption fees for your specific bird will be discussed at one of your scheduled adoption appointments. Please understand that this suggests that you may be more concerned about the cost of the bird and not which bird would fit best into your family situation. We can assure you that all of our birds are well below retail that you would find from any pet store or breeder. 04. We do not require a deposit or money down to adopt a parrot. All adoption fees must be paid at the time of adoption with cash, card or device. We do not typically accept personal checks. 05. We reserve the right to deny any questionnaire/application for any reason. 06. WE DO NOT SHIP OUR BIRDS EVER! No need to ask.
