Lacey's Story
Lacey is an approximately 30+ year-old DNA-sexed Congo African Grey. She is very sweet and handleable. Lacey has been thoroughly vet checked, including bloodwork. She does have some physical limitations so a nice, quiet home would be the perfect fit for her!

African Greys can be wonderful, fun, energetic birds to have in your home and family. Unfortunately, because of their beauty and reputation to be "talkers," they are often purchased by families that aren't necessarily educated or experienced enough to deal with their specific needs. A lot of them wind up plucking or even biting their families and then find their way to a rescue when the family can no longer care for them. By the time birds come to CARE, they may have already been rehomed multiple times and/or have suffered emotional trauma. Our responsibility to these Greys (and all other birds in our rescue) is to find them forever homes where they can flourish and live a healthy, happy life. To that end, we will not accept applications for our African Greys from those who have never owned large birds. Applicants with personal African Grey experience will be given precedence as African Greys require families who can meet their specific needs like mental stimulation, foraging opportunities, lots of out of cage play time, and understand that not all Greys are like the talking ones you see on YouTube. Some birds may never feel comfortable talking, but that doesn't make them any less worthy of a loving home. The best way to gain experience is to volunteer! We are always accepting new volunteer applications!

Lacey's adoption fee is $700.

If you are interested in adoption, please go to www.centerforanimalrehab.org, read our Adoption Policies, and fill out the Adoption Application. Once your application is approved, we will set up a meet and greet with you/your family. We are located in Waukesha, WI and do not ship. All adopters must live within a 100 mile radius. We do not adopt birds to households that have the opposite gender birds.
