Kilda's Story

Kilda’s story is a tale of resilience and the kindness of a single person making a big difference! She was rescued with her two babies as the only survivors of a mass extermination hired to remove all the pigeons in the surrounding area of a gym. While so many others didn’t make it, an amazing employee intervened and managed to save Kilda and her little bubs, ensuring that Kilda and her little family had a chance at life beyond the brutal fate they almost faced.<br/>Now a confirmed dignified lady, Kilda has shown nothing but gratitude for her rescue! She knows she was saved, and she carries that trust forward with her every day. She has a future thanks to one kind rescuer and the team at GLPR. Her youngsters are now fully grown and flourishing, and she’s ready for her own bright future. She would love to be in a home, one where she won’t have to feel danger nearby ever again!

Great Lakes Pigeon Rescue's Adoption Policy

Our adoption fee is $40 for a single pigeon or a married pair of pigeons. We offer shipping for an additional charge. Our adoptable pigeons have received necessary medical care to ensure they are strong and healthy. Adoption fees go toward these expenses and toward rescuing and caring for other pigeons.

Our Mission

To save the lives of homeless domestic and non-releasable pigeons and doves in the Great Lakes region, who otherwise would face euthanasia or a slow death from lack of care, by providing foster homes, adoption services, medical treatment, and compassionate education about the need for pigeon and dove rescue.
