Greta's Story

Meet Greta, a 5-year-old lovebird with a big personality and lots of opinions!

Greta came to STAR with a fear that is fairly typical of companion birds-- hands. That was her big hurdle, and her foster family jumped right in to show her that hands aren't scary-- they can also provide treats, transportation, and someday, scritches.

Greta's fosters have been working with her to establish trust, which she has been enjoying immensely (especially the part where she gets her favorite treat as a reward-- millet!). She has made great progress learning how to interact with humans (and their appendages).

But don't let that quirk dissuade you! Greta is incredibly people-oriented and enjoys attention and spending time with people, so we are hopeful that her progress will continue with the right home, routine, and consistency.

Already, she is comfortable perching on knees and shoulders and has been making leaps and bounds in target/clicker training. She is very curious about people, and she even stretches when people approach her cage, preparing for activity.

Greta will do best in a household that is comfortable continuing the progress that she's made in foster care, and would be okay with some sweet lovebird chatter!

Adoption fee: $60
