Gatsby's Story
Meet Gatsby!

Gatsby is a fairly young cockatoo who came to rescue from a hoarding situation involving nearly 60 other birds. Despite the life she came from, Gatsby is incredibly sweet, social, and trusting of people.

She has truly never met a stranger. Gatsby LOVES attention - and by "loves," we mean demands it. She wants to be involved in whatever her people are doing and is more than happy to soak up all the love you're willing to give her. She's incredibly comfortable with people and has even been sweet and gentle enough to let her 4-year-old foster sibling hold her.

But don't let the sweet face fool you - Gatsby has opinions. Lots of them.

If Gatsby doesn't want to do something, she will make her feelings known and may give you a nip if you continue to insist. Because of this, she needs a bird-savvy home that understands cockatoo body language, boundaries, and positive handling.

Her greatest enemy? Bedtime. Gatsby absolutely hates being put back into her cage and is perfectly capable of loudly protesting this terrible injustice. She is a cockatoo, after all, and her volume knob definitely works! Because of this, apartments, condos, or homes with very close neighbors probably aren't the best fit.

Gatsby is looking for someone who understands that cockatoos are intelligent, emotional, demanding little dinosaurs who need lots of interaction, enrichment, patience, and commitment. She isn't a bird who will be happy spending most of her life sitting quietly in a cage - she wants to be part of the family.

After everything she's been through, Gatsby deserves a home where she'll be loved for exactly what she is: sweet, sassy, loud, demanding, hilarious, and completely impossible to ignore.
