Cynthia's Story

Meet Cynthia, a gentle Umbrella cockatoo with a loving nature to match her sweet, soul-searching eyes. Estimated to be about 40 years old, Cynthia is a wild caught cockatoo with a bit of a rough past. She has gone through a few homes in her lifetime and is looking for the next one to be patient and understanding of her timid nature. She is working on stepping up, but isn't quite sure how just yet. When given the chance, however, she enjoys perching near her people and quietly watching her surroundings. Every so often, she will let out a loud scream or two (she is a cockatoo, after all) and so she wouldn't be appropriate for a household with shared walls. She would thrive in a calm, quiet household with someone who can offer her the time and space she needs to settle in. Cynthia is ready to start her next chapter in life, so if you'd like to be part of it, please fill out an application! Adoption fee: $600

STAR - St. Louis Avian Rescue's Adoption Policy
Please note, due to the quantity of emails that we receive, simply "starting an inquiry" will not receive a reply. Please email info@staravian.org if you have a specific question. The first step is to fill out an Adoption Application, which can be found on our website. All birds are in volunteer foster homes, and a meeting may not be set up until you are approved to adopt. Our adoption team will process your application and set up a home visit. All current pets (including any birds cockatiel and larger) must be up to date on yearly wellness exams and any state mandated vaccines. We do not ship birds, and have a 100-mile adoption radius (using St. Louis Lambert Airport as the start point). We do not adopt to breeders. We are not able to adopt birds into homes that use Teflon product or smoke due to toxicity dangers.
