Cara's Story
Meet Cara! This little (naked) lady is working on building up her socialization skills after spending her entire 24 years in the same household, bonded to the same owner. She is adjusting incredibly well, but has certainly chosen her "favorite" person. Her foster family is working hard on socializing her, but this will take some time and patience in her forever home. Cara is hand tame and will step up for her foster most of the time. She's independent, though, and not afraid to say "no" if she's comfy on her stand or simply not in the mood. Her body language is clear and honest, which makes it easier to respect her boundaries. She'll occasionally step up for others with some encouragement, so she would benefit from a family who would be open to continuing working with her on this. She says "hello" when she wants attention and is fairly quiet for a macaw...however, she has her loud moments, like any large parrot, so a home with shared walls would not be suitable for her. Cara enjoys spending time near her people, especially on her favorite play stand or looking out the window, and loves cuddles from her favorite person most of all. While sweet and cuddly, Cara has a willful streak and she absolutely lives for sneaking onto the top of her cage (where she knows she's not supposed to be). Cara can be a bit of a bluffer, so she will need someone who understands this behavior and isn't intimidated by her large beak. She would thrive with someone who can offer patience, consistency, and plenty of snacks. If you're up for the noise, the mess, and the occasional sass, she might just be your perfect sidekick.<br/>Adoption Fee: $600
