Butterfly's Story

Cockatiel

Meet Butterfly! She's a playful, chatty and friendly middle-aged Cockatiel. As an outgoing gal, she'll entertain you and your family and bring so much joy to your home.

Cockatiels like Butterfly love to keep busy so she'll want lots of toys and interactive activities nearby to work her mind and reduce boredom. She also enjoys her time outside her enclosure where she can let her curiosity soar. She's a great explorer!

She's a fan of playing hide and seek, perhaps from her time living with children, though she'd be happy to play her favorite games with people of any age!

She's lived with another bird in the past (and due to mutual over-grooming, she's looking a bit plucked at the moment). Excessive grooming occurs when birds are bored and not provided with enough stimulation and activities. Butterfly is a social butterfly (hahaha!) so she likely wouldn't mind another bird in her new home, though probably not as enclosure-mates.

If you'd like to open your heart and home to a lovely Cockatiel, perhaps Butterfly is the one for you!

We look forward to helping to match you with your new best friend and supporting you throughout the adoption process. Adopters are welcome to visit our Adoption Center without a scheduled appointment to meet and adopt pets including dogs, cats, birds and small animals. The Adoption Center is open Tuesday – Sunday from 10 am – 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm – 4 pm, with the last adoption meet or scheduled appointment at 3:30 pm. The 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm closure coincides with our quiet time in the kennels, where our pets receive mental enrichment and have a chance to decompress. We are closed Mondays for staff training and extra animal enrichment. If a pet is listed as available in foster care, please call first so we can arrange a time for the foster family to bring the pet back to AWS. All foster meetings take place at AWS.
