Blue Headed Pionus's Story
Blue-Headed Pionus — Experienced Parrot Home

Pionus is a courtesy posting:
Approximately 4 years old DNA-sexed male Fully flighted

This handsome Blue-headed Pionus is a social, intelligent, and personable medium-sized parrot looking for an experienced parrot home.

He is quiet for a parrot, although normal parrot calling should be expected. He whistles and has an impressive vocabulary, including I love you, good morning, how are you, what are you doing, come here, and go potty. His talking is a fun part of his personality, but he needs a home that appreciates him as a companion—not simply as a talking bird.

He enjoys being out of his cage and should have at least 4 hours of supervised out-of-cage time daily, with more being preferable. He is flighted, enjoys exploring, and will happily make himself at home, including walking around on the floor. A bird-safe environment is essential. He enjoys showers and daily misting (necessary).

He eats a quality pellet diet along with daily fresh fruits and vegetables, with minimal nuts and seeds, and has no special dietary requirements.

He knows basic behaviors such as step-up, but like most parrots, he has plenty of autonomy and free will. Sometimes he will happily cooperate; sometimes he has other plans. He would benefit from continued positive-reinforcement training and daily interaction.

He is comfortable living near other birds and does not appear to require an only-bird home. Appropriate introductions would be necessary.

An experienced parrot home is required. Adopters should have experience with medium-sized parrots or larger and understand the responsibilities of keeping a flighted bird. Homes with dogs or cats must have a completely separate, secure area where he can safely be out of his cage.

He originally came from Parrot Stars, and additional history is available.

No cage is included.

Adoption fee reflects the current value of the Blue-headed Pionus and the extensive work, expertise, resources, and care required to make a rescued animal available for adoption.

Adoption applications: https://forms.gle/s28JEfhNywNyLBRYA
