Becker's Story

Introducing Becker! Or "Baaaby Beckerrrr" as we've heard him occasionally mimmick. Becker is a Little Corella Cockatoo and assumed to be a male in his twenties. This species may be one of the smaller breeds of cockatoo, but this handsome parrot is definitly not small in personality! Becker is very active and enjoys exercising his wings in flight during out of cage time. His former owner noted that Becker can be very selective about who can handle him and that he will require an experiened home with a lot of paitence. Becker is just settling in to his foster home and we are looking forward to updating his bio further as his foster mom gets to know him. We do know that some of his favorite foods are carrots and grapes and he likes Nutriberries, almond pieces, and walnut pieces as training treats!

A bit about Becker's background: Becker is well loved by his most recent owners. Unfortunately, these owners are experiencing major life changes and have recognized that their parrots deserve a healthy, stable environment that they can no longer provide. Thus, the owners made the heartbreaking decision to surrender the birds to PEARL Parrot Rescue to find them a loving new home.

About the species: Litlle Corella Cockatoos are also known as Bare-Eyed Cockatoos. This species is medium-sized, similar in size to a Goffins cockatoo. Cockatoos in general are typically highly social and can be very loud tending do best in an adult home with plenty of attention and enrichment. A recommended cage for the active bare-eyed cockatoo is 64"wide by 32" deep with 1/2" to 3/4" bar spacing.

Becker is AVAILABLE for adoption! PEARL Parrot Rescue's Adoption Policy
Thank you for considering adopting your new feathered companion through PEARL Parrot Rescue. It is estimated that approximately 85% of birds purchased are rehomed or abandoned within the first two years of ownership. By considering adoption you are helping put an end to this crisis affecting companion parrots in the United States. In order to adopt from PEARL, all potential adopters must complete our three step adoption process. This includes an application, participation in our Standards of Care Class, and consent to a home check. Regardless of whether you have had or currently have birds, classes are required. We want to ensure that all our potential adopters are equipped with the knowledge to properly care for a parrot. During these classes we discuss our expectations on caging, diet, enrichment, training, and so much more.
