Baily's Story
Meet Baily, a 30-year-old Green-winged Macaw whose greatest strength is her resilience. After experiencing abuse in her distant past and spending many years deeply bonded to one person, she's understandably cautious around new people. Trust doesn't come quickly for Baily--but every small step forward is worth celebrating.

When Baily first arrived in foster care, she barely made a sound. Today, she's beginning to let her personality shine. She greets her foster family with a cheerful "Hello!," dances to music, whistles, chats quietly to herself when she thinks no one is listening, and has discovered just how much fun it is to chew wood toys and to ring bells. Watching her confidence grow has been incredibly rewarding.

Baily isn't hand-tame yet, and she's not ready to step up for new people. She's still learning that hands can be kind, so she'll need an adopter who respects her boundaries and lets her build trust at her own pace. One thing she does know, though... Almonds and pistachios are, to quote Pulp Fiction, "some serious gourmet sh*t." She'll gently take them from your hand, making them a perfect way to continue earning her trust.

She enjoys spending time on top of her cage, climbing around her favorite playstand, and relaxing on natural and rope perches. While she occasionally lets out a classic macaw scream, she's generally a quiet bird who prefers jabbering, whistling, and carrying on little conversations.

Baily is looking for an experienced macaw owner who understands that relationships aren't built overnight. She'll thrive in a patient, predictable home where she can move at her own speed without pressure.

The sweet bird who once adored her previous owner is still in there-- she just needs someone willing to give her the time to believe in people again.

If you're the kind of person who finds joy in earning the trust of a remarkable bird one milestone at a time, Baily has the potential to become an incredibly loyal and rewarding companion. She would love to meet you!

Adoption fee: $700
