Baby Bird's Story
Baby Bird is a DNA-sexed male Blue-Fronted Amazon. We do not know his age but we think he's in his 40's. He has been thoroughly vet checked, including bloodwork. Baby Bird is Borna Virus Positive, he will require a special diet and regular vet checks. He is semi-handleable. Baby Bird came to CARE in pretty rough shape. Since feeling better, has been thriving! He will need daily pain meds for his arthritis.

Amazons can be wonderful, fun, energetic birds to have in your home and family. Unfortunately, because of their beauty and reputation to be "talkers," they are often purchased by families that aren't necessarily educated or experienced enough to deal with their specific needs. A lot of them wind up plucking or even biting their families and then find their way to a rescue when the family can no longer care for them. By the time birds come to CARE, they may have already been rehomed multiple times and/or have suffered emotional trauma.

Our responsibility to these birds is to find them forever homes where they can flourish and live a healthy, happy life. To that end, we will not accept applications for our Amazons from those who have never owned large birds. Applicants with personal Amazon experience will be given precedence as Amazons require families who can meet their specific needs like mental stimulation, foraging opportunities, lots of out of cage play time, and understand that not all Amazons are like the talking ones you see on YouTube. Some birds may never feel comfortable talking, but that doesn't make them any less worthy of a loving home. The best way to gain experience is to volunteer! We are always accepting new volunteer applications!

Baby Bird's adoption fee is $400.

If you are interested in adoption, please go to www.centerforanimalrehab.org, read our Adoption Policies, and fill out the Adoption Application. Once your application is approved, we will set up a meet and greet with you/your family.

We are located in Waukesha, WI and do not ship. All adopters must live within a 100 mile radius. We do not adopt birds to households that have the opposite gender birds.
