Anakin's Story
Meet Anakin, a stunning iridescent blue black-masked lovebird (age 5) whose shimmering plumage catches the light beautifully, giving him an almost magical glow.
In his foster home, Anakin has blossomed and become noticeably more friendly and trusting over time. While he remains a bit hand-shy and prefers not to be grabbed directly, he readily jumps up onto your arm when he feels comfortable, showing his growing confidence and affection. He is good with other birds in general and gets along well in shared spaces. Both Anakin and Bluey (budgie) love to fly around the room and spend time out of their cage, enjoying supervised playtime and exploration.
Anakin has formed a wonderful bond with Bluey, and the two are inseparable best friends who chatter, preen, and play together happily. Bluey is easy to care for but isn't hand-tame—he enjoys observing and interacting from a comfortable distance while providing great company. He also sings prettily, filling the room with cheerful, melodic chirps and warbles that are sure to brighten your day. They get along exceptionally well and can be adopted either together (highly recommended to keep their companionship intact) or separately if needed. If you're away at work during the day, having Bluey as a companion would be perfect for Anakin, providing him with the social interaction and comfort these flock-oriented birds thrive on.
Anakin periodically plucks his chest feathers, then stops on his own, and the feathers grow back quickly—indicating it's likely a mild, manageable behavior rather than a severe ongoing issue. In a stable, enriched home environment with companionship like Bluey's, this tendency may decrease further.
He has a slight preference for men but is good with women too, responding well to patience and gentle interactions from anyone.
Both birds enjoy treats like millet spray, and Anakin especially loves raspberries as a fun, healthy snack.
Anakin and/or Bluey are ready for a patient, loving forever home where THEY can continue to come out of their shells—could that be with you?

Comes with cage and carrier, no vet check. Adoption fee $75 includes 1-yr. membership to WAES.

Must be within driving distance of Salt Lake City.
