Absinthe's Story

Hello! It's very nice to meet you. My name is Absinthe! I am one of many, many pigeons released in the name of "racing" this year, and, you know? I never did think of myself as particularly fast!
But that is neither here nor there. What's important is that I found myself in the lawn of a kind family in Batavia, who gave me water and food and called the good folks at GLPR for some much needed TLC. I was voracious that first night at my foster home, scarfing down seeds like a fiend--but my exhaustion must have caught up to me as I slept that night, because the next day I just couldn't bring myself to touch my breakfast... or lunch... or dinner!!
My GLPR rehabber hand fed me until I started eating on my own again. Since then, I've been enjoying my new life as a companion pigeon! At my foster home, I was a bit nervous around people, but I could easily see myself opening up to human companionship! And I played very nicely with my bird friends in the home. If you're interested in getting to know me, please reach out to Great Lakes Pigeon Rescue. I'm waiting!!
