Emma and Evie's Story

Meet Emma & Evie bonded pot bellied pig sisters looking for a permanent, responsible and loving home to call their own. These sweet souls arrived to the Whatcom Humane Society farm facility several months ago. They were found living inside a trailer, eating a diet that consisted of mainly canned soup. They had not been receiving property nutrition, care or any exercise - leaving them with significant mobility issues and morbidly obese. We actually were not sure if we were going to be able to help them. But . . . thanks to the dedicated and tireless care of our farm caretaker, our farm volunteers and the staff at Kulshan Veterinary Hospital, these sweet sisters made slow but steady improvements in their health, weight loss, socialization, and quality of life. As they lost weight, they gained muscle and started to learn what it felt like to move without pain and do fun pig things - like play in the sprinkler and mud pit on hot summer days.
We think this dynamic duo is now ready to find their forever home. They need a home TOGETHER that has experience caring for pigs and has a roomy, dry, draft-free enclosure (they love to burrow in piles of stray/hay) to hang out in and a secure fenced outdoor area (they will dig/root, cause that's what pigs do - OINK!) to safely enjoy the outdoors and keep up on their exercise regiment.
Evie & Emma will make wonderful companions for someone ready to invest in their future - and a person or family that recognizes how special, smart and wonderful pigs are.
If you have questions, contact: farm@whatcomhumane.org - or submit an adoption application for consideration via our website, www.whatcomhumane.org.
