Buck's Story

Meet Buck!

Buck is a 1.5-year-old Pygmy wether with an independent personality and an easygoing place within his herd. He currently lives as part of a large group of goats and is definitely more goat-social than people-social -- but we've seen goats from this group absolutely blossom into sweet, friendly pets once they're adopted into smaller herds and begin getting more individual attention!

Within his current herd, Buck is a bit of a social floater. He doesn't have one particular best friend that he's always attached to, but he gets along well with everyone. That could make him a great candidate for joining an existing herd or heading home with one (or more!) of his current goat friends.

Buck has spent his entire life living on a dry lot, so pasture will be a brand-new experience for him. His new family will need to introduce him to fresh pasture gradually and give his digestive system time to adjust -- and give Buck some time to discover just how exciting being a grazing goat can be!

Because goats are highly social animals, Sanctuary One requires our goats to be adopted in pairs unless they are joining a home with an existing goat herd. Buck may be independent, but he still needs the companionship of other goats to be happy and thrive.

Buck may not be the goat who immediately comes running for attention when you first meet him, and that's okay! With a smaller herd, regular interaction, and people willing to give him time to build a relationship on his own terms, we think this independent little guy has plenty of potential to become a wonderful companion.
