Meet Billy Mason

****** Update***** Billy is almost 14 years old, which is very elderly for a goat. He is amazingly strong and healthy still.

******Please Note******
Billy Mason is not for adoption. He is quite at home at our sanctuary along with his goat and sheep friends. Among his goat friends are another three legged gal named Lily as well as a little blind goat girl named Ruthie. Animal lovers who wish to contribute to Billy and the others may click on the sponsor button on his page. Your donations help us to keep these mistreated and abused animals in the comfort and security they deserve.

*********Billy Mason (Masonite) is a beautiful, young goat who was seeking refuge from a life on the streets and somehow got into a huge Masonite factory that was being demolished. We were told that he was hiding in the piles of metal that were being cut up into smaller pieces to be transported off of the property. As the machinery worked, scooping up the metal and shearing it into smaller pieces, Billy would try to run under it to hide. The workers were trying to watch for him and successfully avoided injuring him for several weeks, but one day they didn’t see him and the machine cut Billy’s front leg off below the knee. Thankfully, Eric, the man in charge of the project, was on site that day and took responsibility to see that Billy was treated for his injury. After many phone calls, he found a vet willing to work on Billy. Billy spent the next 3 months at the Cotati Large Animal Hospital having bandage changes and medications daily. We are grateful for their wonderful care and also for the gentle socialization they afforded Billy. He was so frightened of people that it was quite a project just making sure he knew he wouldn’t be hurt again. Billy’s saviors, Eric and Amber, searched for someone to adopt Billy when he was healed well enough to be moved into a home. No one seemed to want to give Billy the kind of home he so deserved after his horrible experience. Most of the kind offers were from folks that didn’t really understand proper care of such an animal and that he would, with good care, live for many many more years. So, we offered to give Billy sanctuary here for the rest of his life. Billy is adjusting nicely to having goat buddies, having his back scratched and a safe, warm, dry home. He was very thin after his ordeal, but is starting to gain weight nicely, though he does have much more to gain. We are hoping to get him a prosthetic leg. He does well without one, but we think it would enable him to get around a little easier and make his life even better.

You can make a huge difference for Billy and his farm friends by becoming a sponsor, please click on the sponsorship button. Your support will help us insure that Billy and many other farm animals have a safe and comfortable home for the rest of their lives. If you’d like photos and information of the many others we have in our sanctuary, please email us. THANK YOU!

P.S. Some of you have offered to adopt Billy. He is not available for adoption because he is so at home here with his goat friends and it would be too traumatic to uproot him.
