Hello to all of our lovely bunny lovers! We're writing with a very sad story that we wish we didn't need to share. We welcomed two special bunnies this morning. These poor sweet buns were brought into our local county shelter, yesterday evening. The family who brought them in say they received them from someone else & realized that something 'wasn't right'.

Unfortunately, our county shelter is really not equipped to care for bunnies, especially ones with such special needs, so they reached out with an urgent desperate plea. While the bunnies were clearly mistreated in the past, they were still so lovingly sweet, so the shelter really wanted them to have a chance! We are so fortunate we could be here to help with these sweet bunnies in need. We named these girls Nova (black) & Nina (white).

We rushed them to our vet after pick up. Unfortunately, despite best efforts, Nova's injuries were too advanced/severe to come back from. She suffered from 3 previously untreated broken limbs & had infections in those joints/bones that improperly healed. We made the incredibly difficult decision to let sweet Nova go in peace. We wish we could have shown her more of what bunny life in a loving home should be.

Sweet Nina's injuries, while not as severe, include an old/healed compound fracture to her back leg that will require antibiotics for possible infection, as well as leg wrapping. She has adapted to having an injured leg very well, using the leg for balance. She is very sweet but, as expected, very weary of humans.
